Data & Scoring

Scoring is useful only when the evidence trail, data quality, and uncertainty are visible.

What gets scored.

Varellium considers listed price, category context, comparable evidence where credible, source quality, seller presentation, freshness, scarcity, and visible risk factors.

What scores should not do.

Scores should not turn missing data into false precision. Public pages should hide weak values instead of rendering empty comparable sales, zero-dollar economics, or unsupported upside claims.

How this protects the product.

The scoring layer exists to support better review, not to replace collector judgment or create automatic buy instructions.

Data quality

Weak or missing evidence should reduce confidence rather than inflate presentation.

Confidence boundaries

Public and member surfaces should explain what is known and what still needs review.

Category-aware scoring

Books, watches, art, and cards require different signals and risk checks.
